1940s
BUILDING THE BUSINESS
1941
The business started with only one commodity; Ho Yan Hor Herbal Tea, concocted and founded by Dr Ho Kai Cheong. Dr Ho Kai Cheong formulated a unique of 24 herbs and developed Ho Yan Hor Tea, our longest standing brand since 1941.
1947
FIRST to develop chinese herbal tea in tea bag for easy consumption.
1957
Ho Yan Hor herbal tea became a popular alternative to western medicine due to its effective relief to common cold during Asian Flu Pandemic 1957 in East Asia.
1980s
TRANSFORMATION
1980
The son of Dr Ho Kai Cheong, Mr David Ho, a well-trained pharmacist, led Hovid into a new chapter of manufacturing excellence and venture into mainstream pharmaceutical industry.
1981
Hovid Pharmacy incorporated in Malaysia.
1990s
A BIG STEP TOWARDS R&D
1991
First in Malaysia to use film coating technology.
1991
Soft gel manufacturing plant commissioned.
1991
Extraction of Tocotrienols & Carotene from Palm Oil.
1993
2nd R&D team formed with School of Pharmaceutical Science, USM.
1995
First US-NIH (National Institute of Health) funded study.
2000s

Approved by UNICEF’s drugs procurement program.
2001
Obtain PIC/s GMP Certification.
2001
Hovid Inc incorporated in the Philippines.
2001
Hovid R&D project published in the International Journal of Pharmaceutics.
2002
Acquisition of effervescent disinfectant tablet technology.
2003
Suprabio patent granted in USA - an innovative self-emulsifying drug delivery system.
2003
Completed its second manufacturing site in Chemor.
2005
Publicly listed on the second board of Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) under the name Hovid Berhad.
2007
Hovid Ltd incorporated in Hong Kong.
2008
Established its own dedicated R&D division (Attest Research Sdn Bhd), supporting the development of high-quality pharmaceutical products.
2010s

FIRST Palm Tocotrienol publication in the renowned STROKE journal.
2016
Restoration of Ho Yan Hor Museum.
2016
Opening of the Attest Research Center in Penang, Largest Bioequivalence (BE) Centre in Malaysia.
2017
First Company in Malaysia to gain US FDA Orphan Drug Status for Tocovid SupraBio.
2017
Established an automated warehouse facility featuring an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) and Digital Pick to Light Logistic System.
